Virtual IOP With Community Housing

  • Virtual IOP and sober living
  • 12-step programming
  • Solid transition from inpatient to sober living
  • No limitations on recovery care

Real Recovery now offers virtual intensive outpatient treatment (Virtual IOP) with sober living, a unique service that isn’t available anywhere else in Florida. Our one-of-a-kind virtual IOP program offers clients a bridge from detox or inpatient treatments to a versatile and flexible treatment that allows the freedom to continue their daily routines, while held to the standards of sober living facilities.

Virtual IOP with sober living is beneficial for clients seeking a high standard of care but don’t have the time or resources to attend in-person IOP sessions. Virtual IOP requires clients to have access to a smartphone, laptop, or any other device that can connect to the internet. While virtual IOP utilizes online services, it isn’t any less effective than standard outpatient programs. According to a study done by the Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews, 60.5% of clients attending virtual IOPs completed their treatment. However, the success of your virtual IOP will always depend on you. All treatment is effective if you put in the work.

What Is Treated in Our Virtual IOP

Our Virtual IOP with sober living provides clients with substance use disorder (SUD) or alcohol use disorder (AUD) with the services of standard IOPs through accessible virtual sessions. All virtual IOP services can be accessed right from your apartment at sober living, giving you an easy transition from therapy sessions back to everyday life. You will be required to attend a minimum of nine sessions per week, utilizing individual, group, and family therapies. Virtual IOPs have become increasingly popular in recent years, as they meet clients’ therapeutic needs while allowing them to remain in the comfort of their own homes. Virtual IOP with sober living is an affordable and beneficial solution to clients who do not have the resources or transportation to attend in-person IOP.

How We Treat: Programming Rooted in the 12 Steps

Real Recovery’s virtual IOP with sober living is comparable to residential treatment, but with the flexibility to integrate deeper into sober living activities and continue your daily responsibilities. Every treatment program is tailored to meet your recovery needs and objectives—and requires you to step up and commit yourself to your treatment. Our programming is structured and rooted in the 12-step philosophy, which demands responsibility and accountability for a successful recovery. We are dedicated to incorporating the 12-step values in our approach to treating your mind, body, and spirit through traditional and holistic therapeutic methods, as well as unparalleled peer support.

What you may expect during treatment:

    • Evidence-based therapies
      • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
      • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
      • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
    • Peer support
      • Group therapy
      • Group housing through sober living
      • Community

All methods used during virtual IOP with sober living promote and prioritize the essential life skills needed for sustainable recovery. These life skills include stress management, effective communication, and relapse prevention, which are critical for navigating daily life without substances.

Who Is Virtual IOP Designed For

Virtual IOP offers the same modalities as standard IOP, but from the comfort of your own living space. Virtual IOP with sober living is the right choice for clients who have completed a residential treatment program and need a higher level of support than standard outpatient can provide.

With virtual IOP, you will be required to commit to a minimum of 9-hour sessions a week, but will not be held to 24/7 supervision. Virtual IOP is also extremely helpful if you have not had inpatient care or do not require a residential treatment program but still would benefit from personalized and comprehensive care. If you’re self-driven and able to stick to a strict schedule, virtual IOP is highly recommended.

    Benefits of Virtual Intensive Outpatient

Real Recovery’s virtual IOP with sober living treatment plan gives clients a way to get real help without stepping away from everything else they’re responsible for. For people balancing work, family, transportation issues, or legal obligations, that flexibility can make treatment more realistic and easier to start. Instead of waiting for the “perfect time” to get help, clients can begin building structure, accountability, and support while still managing everyday life.

It also helps clients practice recovery where it actually matters most: in the middle of real life. Virtual IOP keeps people connected to therapy, group support, and consistent clinical guidance while they work through the challenges, triggers, and routines they face every day. For many clients, that kind of steady support can make the difference between talking about change and actually following through with it.

    Benefit Why It Matters
Flexible scheduling Clients can get treatment while still managing work, family, or other responsibilities.
Easier access to care Virtual treatment removes barriers like transportation, distance, or limited local options.
Real-world accountability Clients apply recovery skills in their everyday environment instead of only in a clinical setting.
Consistent support Regular therapy and group sessions help clients stay connected and avoid losing momentum.
More privacy Some clients feel more comfortable starting treatment from sober living rather than walking into a facility.
Stronger follow-through When treatment fits real life, clients are often more likely to stay engaged and keep showing up.

Why Community Housing Matters for Virtual IOP

We know that recovery is possible when you are given the opportunity for accountability, structure, and support in your treatment. When you are attending virtual IOP at one of our sober living facilities, you experience a level of accountability and responsibility you won’t find at other community housing programs in Florida.

We are fully committed to your recovery, supporting you wholeheartedly while supplying you with the tools necessary to effect real change in your life. That being said, we aren’t your mom. You are still responsible for going to therapy, attending AA and NA meetings, and following the 12-step principles that our programs are rooted in.

Virtual IOP isn’t an afterthought, but instead allows for a deeper sense of peer support and community and a higher level of honesty when combined with sober living.

What to Expect From Virtual IOP and Sober Living

Regular IOP can be rigorous, but attending virtual IOP doesn’t mean you are any less committed to your recovery. SAMHSA reports that clients enrolled in a virtual IOP program still attend at least 9-hour sessions per week. Attending sessions can be easier with virtual care, as all your sessions are right at your fingertips.

All of our facilities feature newly renovated living spaces, modern appliances, and 24/7 recovery support. Losing internet connection isn’t a problem at our sober living facilities, as all of our residences are equipped with high-speed internet, ensuring you don’t miss a session of your virtual IOP.

Sober living is all about honesty and community. When virtual IOP is combined with sober living, it enhances a higher engagement in all the aspects that sober living provides.

Some of what you can expect from Virtual IOP and sober living:

    • Flexible Scheduling
      • Virtual IOP at our sober living facilities allows you to resume personal, professional, and social responsibilities while living in a structured home-like community
      • You are still required to commit yourself fully to your recovery, attending your virtual IOP therapies and adhering to the responsibilities required to continue treatment through sober living
    • Substance free
      • Random breathalyzer and drug tests are conducted several times a week to ensure that you are continuing to live free from substances, and help to reduce triggers for other residents
    • Community Support
      • Sober living really hammers in the community support aspect of Real Recovery. At sober living, there’s a level of camaraderie amongst peers; everyone leans on each other, sharing similar experiences that may have brought them here, and fostering a support that lasts long after their program has ended

    Virtual Intensive Outpatient FAQs

Most major insurance carriers cover telehealth programs like virtual IOP. Real Recovery will verify what your insurance does and doesn’t cover during admissions and plan a treatment program that works for you and your insurance.

Virtual is exactly that—virtual. All your individualized treatments will be available through online services. The limitations depend on your commitment to recovery and your internet connection. When sober living is added to virtual IOP, your limitations disappear. High-speed internet is available at every sober living location, meaning the only limit to your success is you.

Virtual IOP is as effective as traditional treatment and gives you the flexibility to attend from home or sober living. However, success in virtual IOP depends on what you make of it. Your willingness to devote everything you have to your recovery will be the biggest factor in your success.
