If you are considering treatment or are starting to realize you or a loved one may have a problem, you are not alone. The number of people suffering from addiction in America is astonishing. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 19.7 million Americans (aged 12 and older) battled a substance use disorder in 2017.1 Of those battling substance abuse, 74% struggled with an alcohol use disorder.1 Addiction is nothing to be ashamed of, we eliminate the stigma and focus on recovery.

Alcohol is virtually everywhere in America and it’s one of the most common coping mechanisms for adults. According to the 2019 NSDUH, 14.5 million (nearly 15 million) people ages 12 and older were diagnosed with alcohol use disorder (AUD), more commonly referred to as alcoholism. Of these individuals, only 7.2% received any treatment for alcoholism in the previous year. Alcohol contributes to about 18.5% of emergency department (ED) visits and 22.1% of overdose deaths related to prescription opioids.2 If you’re struggling to stay put the drink or drug down, we’re here to help you.

There Is Hope & Long-Term Sobriety at Real Recovery

Most men arrive at Real Recovery bruised and battered by a lifestyle centered around alcohol and drugs. From the maladaptive behaviors that have accumulated over the years, problematic relationships, and past trauma to mental health complications, recovery is an enduring process that requires patience, dedication, and the willingness to honestly confront our addictions head-on. We may not heal overnight but we can guarantee that you can stay sober if you give sobriety 100% of your effort and are willing to take action on the suggestions from others who have recovered.

As recovered addicts and alcoholics, we’ve walked in your footsteps. Our sober living program is designed to give every man that crosses our threshold a real opportunity at achieving long-term recovery, one day at a time. Our alcohol-/drug-free communities promote health (body and mind), purpose, and passion in a supportive environment among peers who are serious about living their best life each day.

Battling Dismal Relapse Rates

We Help Clients Battle Dismal Relapse Rates

If you’re familiar with alcoholism and addiction relapse statistics, you already know it’s an uphill battle. Between 40 – 60% of people who’ve been treated for addiction or alcoholism relapse within a year, according to a 2014 study in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA).

Lack of a stable, alcohol and drug free living environment can be a serious obstacle to sustained abstinence. Destructive living environments can derail recovery for even highly motivated individuals. That’s why sober living houses (SLHs) are essential for individuals transitioning from an addiction treatment center or who are new to recovery. Sober homes provide a safe, structured, and supportive alcohol and drug free environment that significantly improves abstinence outcomes.

Measuring Recovery Success Rates Across Our Sober Living Alumni

As the largest sober living program in Florida, we need to measure the success rates of graduates (alumni) to ensure we are always improving our people, processes, and program to give everyone who walks through our door the best fighting chance at long-term sobriety.

In 2018, Real Recovery launched an initiative to effectively measure the recovery rate (abstinence rate) of the men who successfully complete all three phases of our sober living program.

Of the 214 men who successfully graduated from Real Recovery in 2018, we were able to track 201 (94%) alumni’s success in recovery, that is continued abstinence from alcohol and drugs. Here’s what we found:

Numbers Don't Lie In Sobriety

0%

of alumni (687) remained clean at least 90 days after completing the program

0%

remained (478) abstinent at least six months after graduating Real Recovery

0%

remained (363) sober for a year or more after completing all three phases

0%

of the alumni (304) with one year achieved their two years sober milestone 🤯 🥳

0%

of alumni that relapsed within six months reduced or stopped attending meetings

0%

of those with a year or more sober reported they actively sponsored others in recovery

Common Factors of Alumni Celebrating One Year or More

The great thing about our program and the collective 12-step programs available is… you can learn from other people’s experiences and, maybe, save yourself a lot of pain or inconvenience if you’re willing to pay attention.

Of the men who remained sober for a year or more after successfully graduating from our sober living program, we found the following common denominators for what helped them achieve their recovery milestones, and what it would be wise to keep in mind when you’re ready to move out.

Yes! Do Keep Calling Your Sponsor Even On Good Days

Regular Physical Activities & Exercise Matters in Sobriety
