Take Control of Your Success
Not everyone arrives at sobriety’s doorstep in a Lamborghini, many of us have hit bottoms so low that we arrived with a suitcase and a few sets of clothes. Hitting a low bottom can be a benefit, it’s sometimes that stage of incomprehensible demoralization that is required for a lot of us to become willing to admit defeat and seek help.
Whatever your situation, try not to stress or worry about appearances. We take pride in our community’s ability to create a judgment-free sense of camaraderie in recovery. Our guys don’t care how you arrive, but you can bet everyone will take notice of how you treat others so let’s focus on what matters—getting serious about recovery and practicing the 12-step principles in all our affairs. We’ve gathered a list of community resources to help you with the everyday essentials below.

Hillsborough, Manatee, and Pinellas County each have community healthcare services for uninsured, low-income adults. If you need healthcare services, please be proactive and use the following links for your county to learn more and see if you’re eligible:

Transportation Resources
Not everyone has a set of wheels when they get sober but we all need reliable transportation to go to work, get groceries, and hit meetings. While many of our residents carpool to meetings and are happy to help when they can, we expect residents to be self-sufficient. If you don’t have a vehicle and are short on funds, here are a few ways you can get around town for free or at a reduced cost:
The cost to rent a vehicle from Enterprise, Hertz, Budget, and other car rental services most people are familiar with can quickly add up. If you’re on a tight budget but still need a dependable car at a reasonable price, check out these car-sharing apps to find a ride near you:
- Turo – World’s Largest Car Sharing Marketplace (our top recommendation)
- Getaround – car sharing app
- Zipcar – car sharing app
Clothing Resources
Some residents are willing and able but lack a few good outfits for interviews. If funds are tight and you need clothes, check out these community resources:
- Oblito.com – a search engine for free clothing and necessities, simply enter your city or zip code.
- Tampa Hillsborough Homeless Initiative
- Hannah’s Homeless – located in St. Petersburg
- Pinellas Hope

I have struggled for many years with a debilitating case of untreated alcoholism , until I made the life changing decision to come to Real Recovery St.Pete. With the support of staff, and residents alike, I am still sober sober 13 months later. I can not say enough good things about this place! Thank you Real Recovery!

I have been to other Sober Living houses and Real Recovery is the best. They drug test to keep people honest. They make sure clients are responsible and clean their house. The House Managers are awesome. If you are serious about recovery this is a great place to live. Several meetings on site.

Real Recovery is the best choice in all regards. Their facilities are amazing, the amount of work and money the owner puts into his properties is unmatched. The programs they have are also the best. House managers are also super involved, go to the same meetings and know what is going on with the clients.

I recently moved into Real Recovery and I have been very impressed! I came from a sober living situation in St. Pete but moved back home to Bradenton. If you are looking for a clean, sober living environment - this is it! Mark is a very open and relatable person to talk to. The men here are open, eager to help, and make you feel welcome.

I been in Real Recovery of Tampa for a month now and it was by far the best decision I ever made after completing 30 days of inpatient rehab at Turning Point. RR is teaching me how important it is to make friends in recovery and to get out of my comfort zone. Thank you to for welcoming and helping me on this journey in recovery.
