For those living with addiction in St. Pete Beach, Florida, Real Recovery Solutions in St. Petersburg can provide a structured and supportive path to recovery that focuses on client accountability. We provide our clients with the tools needed for real-world recovery, not progress that stops after treatment is over.
The St. Pete beach area has experienced high levels of substance use. In 2021, Pinellas County reported 386 accidental deaths from illicit substances, going up 87% from five years prior in 2016. These numbers prove how prevalent substance use is in our community. Substance use doesn’t just affect those living with addiction, but also those connected to them.
As the Clinical Director at Real Recovery Solutions, Carlos Escobar leverages over 15 years of experience in Substance Use Disorder Treatment, focusing on therapies like CBT and REBT to foster client self-understanding and acceptance. His commitment to innovative, personalized care aims to profoundly improve the lives of those battling addiction and related mental health challenges.

At Real Recovery Solutions, we provide clients with a full continuum of care. All of our treatment options are personalized to support the mind, body, and spirit of our clients and include individual therapies with trauma-informed therapists, group therapy with like-minded peers, and programs rooted in the 12-step model.
We offer a variety of programs that meet our clients’ level of care needed, from medical detox to outpatient services. Many clients choose the option to continue in our sober living program, which is designed for men who are looking for structure and accountability.
Below are examples of what treatment looks like at Real Recovery:
When quitting a substance suddenly, withdrawal symptoms can be aggressive and unsustainable. Some of these symptoms include hallucinations, dehydration, and seizures. It is not recommended that these symptoms be dealt with alone. This is where medical detox comes in. Medical detox provides 24/7 observation and support from medical staff members who monitor the detox process and provide psychological and medical intervention to make the detox process smooth and comfortable.
Medical detox is often the first step in treating alcohol use disorder (AUD) and substance abuse disorder (SUD), but not every person with SUD or AUD needs a detox. Some substances, such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, fentanyl, and heroin, specifically latch onto neurotransmitters in the brain, which causes more aggressive and unsustainable withdrawal symptoms.
When clients first arrive at Real Recovery, they will receive a physical and psychological evaluation to determine where they are in their recovery process and if a detox is the right choice for them.
Some men find it hard to transition back into real life after treatment. Real Recovery’s St. Petersburg sober living program for men is designed to provide men with the community and structure that is essential after completing detox. The sober living program follows a structured three-phase process to help our clients complete a 12-step program. Sober living in St. Petersburg includes 24/hour support from licensed therapists, as well as continuous peer support and accountability from fellow clients in the program to prevent return to substance use.
St. Petersburg’s sober living program includes a variety of amenities and activities to provide comfort in the transition process.
Some of the amenities and activities available in St. Petersburg include:
Clients who reside in our sober living programs can come and go as often as they please, but are required to follow set rules. Residents of sober living must complete a set number of 12-step program meetings, maintain stable employment, participate in peer support activities, and complete daily chores. There is no limit on how long a client can stay at our sober living program, but we recommend that they stay as long as it takes for them to complete their 12-step program.
For many, heroin addiction begins as a form of pain management. However, it can quickly lead to strong physical dependence, increased tolerance, and a dulling of the joy once found in everyday life. Those living with heroin addiction may also face underlying mental health challenges, which can make recovery feel more distant than it truly is.
Heroin addiction treatment depends on the individual. Most times, it begins with a medical detox monitored around the clock by medical staff. This then leads to treatment that focuses on where our clients’ addiction has stemmed from, relying on individual and group therapies to build structure and community through accountability.
Cocaine addiction may begin as a way to get through the day, boost confidence, or maintain energy. But with repeated intake, it can become harder to ignore the urge to use, and many people find it increasingly difficult to create distance from the substance.
Treatment for cocaine addiction starts with addressing the root causes that lead to addiction. Cocaine addiction can stem from underlying mental health issues as well as environmental factors. An individual recovery program is then tailored with these issues in mind and includes combining the 12-step program with individual and group therapies.
Meth addiction can start as a way to boost energy and push through the day, often seeming manageable at first. But as control slips into dependence, it can bring on deep isolation and a diminished sense of self-worth. People struggling with meth addiction may face powerful cravings, trouble with memory and focus, and growing distance in relationships that once felt close.
At Real Recovery, our trained medical staff creates an individualized meth addiction treatment program. Our sober living facility combines the 12-step approach with evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This program will address and care for the possible underlying reasons for addiction, such as mental health issues and environmental factors.
Prescription drug addiction is characterized by the misuse of prescriptions that differ from their original purpose. The types of prescriptions that are often misused are Opioids, benzodiazepines, and stimulants. Stimulants are medications that are typically used to treat ADHD, such as Adderall and Ritalin. These stimulants are usually prescribed in good faith and can be used for increasing attention and energy; however, stimulants can be misused in the same sense, with those who don’t have ADHD experiencing high levels of energy that they do not need. This can lead to dependence on the stimulant to experience high levels of focus and an increased tolerance to the effects it once created.
Prescription drug addiction treatment at Real Recovery starts with assessment and a medical detox, if needed. We provide thorough physical and psychological evaluations to determine if mental health issues are an underlying cause of a client’s addiction. From there, our clients will receive a full continuum of care that includes individual and group counseling sessions, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and aftercare planning and support.
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is defined by the inability to stop consuming alcoholic substances, which leads to both physical and psychological dependence on the substance. Every person with AUD is different, and the most effective treatment method is finding the best fit for the individual.
Alcohol addiction treatment at Real Recovery begins with an alcohol detox, medically supervised and managed by a team of care and therapeutic professionals. From there, clients will complete a sober living program that is tailored to their individual recovery needs. This reduces exposure to triggers and addresses the circumstances of alcohol addiction.
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) occurs when someone is unable to stop the compulsive consumption of alcohol, resulting in both physical and psychological dependence. Since every person’s journey with AUD is different, successful treatment depends on finding the right individualized approach.
Real Recovery starts alcohol addiction treatment with a medically monitored detox, supported by experienced care and therapy staff. After detox, clients enter a structured sober living program that minimizes exposure to triggers and addresses the root causes of their addiction, providing a solid foundation for recovery.
