A sober living home is more than just a place to stay. It’s a supportive environment tailored for individuals recovering from substance abuse and addiction. The urgency and importance of such facilities become evident when considering statistics; for instance, 2.5 million people in the U.S. used methamphetamine in 2020 alone.

We encourage every resident that can, to continue their education, even if it’s only a couple of classes each semester. Did you know that as a resident at Real Recovery you can receive an exemption that covers the cost of tuition and access fees to attend local community colleges and Florida universities, including the University of South Florida? It’s true!
It gets better – the University of South Florida’s main campus is only 20 minutes away from Real Recovery’s North Tampa sober living location.
The University of South Florida has something called the Homeless Tuition Waiver which is part of a statewide program (§ 31009.25, Fla. Stat.; 2020) to help individuals and families who want to create a better life but are experiencing less than ideal circumstances. Before you say, well I’m not homeless… well put your ego aside, remember we’re working on a program of willingness, honesty, and humility. Real Recovery is by definition “transitional housing” which means all residents meet the federal definition of “homeless.”
If you’re interested in continuing your education, our dedicated staff will help you make that a reality. This is one area we cover during intake where we discuss your goals – recovery, personal, professional, and education-wise.
